Fondazione Giacomo Puccini in Lucca, established in 1972, was created with the intent to promote the life and work of Giacomo Puccini and Lucca's musical tradition, thanks to careful research, the creation and management of events and cultural events, popular science and entertainment.

 

Interventions were performed in areas of scientific research, protection, conservation and enhancement of cultural heritage Puccini, of information, training and musical education in this area and we wanted to give a value to the house where the composer was born December 22, 1858 and he lived the years of his musical training before moving to Milan, with the creation of Giacomo Puccini's Birthplace Museum.

 

Until 2004 he has worked in the Foundation for the management of the museum, but, due to the need to work to make the safety of the structure of the building, was closed to date for restoration.

 

The renovations have been made thanks to the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca, which bought the Birthplace and the whole collection of works, reliable? Then giving the Puccini Foundation, the management of the Museum.

 

The major restoration work on the second floor of the apartment in Corte San Lorenzo - Via di Poggio, in the historical center of Lucca, next to Citadel Square, the square where you can see a statue of the Master, has led to the restoration of the environment with the original intention of creating a completely renovated museum in which his music, his records of his paintings, its relics, its furnishings allow you to breathe the atmosphere of the years in which Giacomo Puccini began his footsteps to become what outstanding performer that has seen him take your name and the name of Lucca, in the world.

 

In the new guise the birthplace opens the concerts, meetings to sound his music and his words.

 

The inauguration is scheduled for Tuesday, September 13 at 12:00.

 

 

• The opening hours, from 14 September 2011, will be as follows:
• from April to October: 10:00 to 18:00
• from November to March: 11:00 to 17:00.
• During the summer, evening openings are provided, timetable to be defined.
• Closed Tuesdays.
